Does Deodorizer Pass Smell Test?

Problem Solver Mark Schumacher Noses Around For Stinky Test Subjects

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. -- These days it seems like we're always looking for ways to get rid of odor. That's why the market for deodorizers is huge.VideoDoes Spray Take Odors Away?

So when Channel 10 Problem Solver Mark Schumacher heard about a product guaranteed to work he decided to take on the challenge.

It's easy to find them -- smells, noxious odors. However, ridding your olfactory of a stench is not easy. But nonetheless Schumacher went on a stench patrol to test Odor Eliminator by Petrotech. The organic spray guarantees to get rid of odors on contact.

Funky fumes led Schumacher to a garage and a pair of stinky shoes. He doused them, spraying both sides, and the smell was gone.

Next up -- a bag of dog droppings found in a garbage bag. After an aerosol assault from Odor Eliminator, the smell was gone.

The product is sold online or ordered by phone. It's not cheap at $12.95 a can, but the makers say it encapsulates odors and eats them. But can it deal with dirty diapers?

On odor patrol in Hollywood, Schumacher caught a wicked whiff and found a dirty diaper. He plastered the pungent Pamper with full force and the smell was gone -- entirely.

There are some odors that a spray cannot handle. And some jobs are simply too big. It only works on smaller targets. And if you spray and another smelly item is added, it will have to be sprayed too. But the product does deodorize. Schumacher gives it a thumbs up.
